Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed former India international Vikram Rathour as the batting coach of the Sri Lanka national team on a consultancy basis, strengthening preparations for the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2026.
Rathour, who represented India in both Tests and One-Day Internationals, will assume his role on 18 January 2026 and remain with the team until 10 March 2026. His primary responsibility will be to work closely with the squad’s batters as part of Sri Lanka’s build-up to the global tournament.
The 55-year-old brings vast international experience, having served as the batting coach of the Indian men’s team across all formats from September 2019 to July 2024. During that period, India enjoyed sustained success across formats, including strong performances at major ICC events.
Rathour holds top-level coaching qualifications, including BCCI Level 3, Cricket Australia Level 3, and England & Wales Cricket Board Level 1 certifications. He is currently part of the Rajasthan Royals’ coaching staff in the Indian Premier League, where he serves as Lead Assistant Coach.
Sri Lanka Cricket believes Rathour’s experience at the highest level will add significant value to the national side as it intensifies preparations for the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2026.
