South Africa extend lead despite morning wobble in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: South Africa overcame the loss of three early wickets to tighten their grip on the second Test against India in Guwahati on day four, stretching their overall lead to a commanding 395 runs by tea on Tuesday.

Resuming with a healthy advantage, the visitors slipped to 107-3 in the morning session, but Tony de Zorzi remained composed on 21 not out, while Tristan Stubbs accompanied him on 14 as the pair steered the innings safely into the break.

Already 1-0 up after a dominant victory in Kolkata inside three days, the world Test champions appeared in no rush to declare, opting instead to build an unassailable total. With a 2-0 series sweep firmly in sight, South Africa look poised to continue dictating terms as the match moves into its final stages.
