LIVERPOOL: Liverpool manager Arne Slot said he fully understood the frustration voiced by supporters after loud boos followed Saturday’s 1-1 Premier League draw at home to relegation-threatened Burnley — the champions’ fourth consecutive league stalemate.
Liverpool, who are now seven points adrift of the top three, dominated proceedings with 11 shots on target compared to Burnley’s one but failed to turn control into victory.
“In my head it wasn’t a boo, it was frustration,” Slot told reporters. “We’re Liverpool and we played against Burnley. If we are not disappointed by a draw like this at home, then something is completely wrong.
”Slot praised Burnley’s defensive resilience, noting their goal-line clearances and organisation, but admitted Liverpool would be disappointed not to take all three points.
The hosts went ahead before halftime through Florian Wirtz, only for slack defending to allow Marcus Edwards to equalise for 19th-placed Burnley in the second half.“I completely understand the frustration,” Slot said. “I have the same feeling, and the players definitely have the same frustration as the fans.”
