Lusail, Qatar: Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, carried out a key inspection visit on Thursday to the Lusail Sports Arena to assess the venue’s preparedness to host the highly anticipated World Table Tennis Championships – Doha 2025.
The tournament scheduled from May 17 to 25.
Joining Sheikh Joaan during the tour were Khalil Ahmed Al-Mohannadi – President of the Qatar, Arab, and Asian Table Tennis Federations and First Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation – along with senior members of the tournament’s organizing committee.
The state-of-the-art Lusail Sports Arena, which boasts a 20,000-spectator capacity, will be the central hub for the championship, hosting both the opening ceremony and all competition matches.
The event will bring together a total of 640 athletes from around the globe, including 256 players for the singles events, another 256 for the men’s and women’s doubles, and 128 participants in the mixed doubles category.
Previously, Lusail Sports Arena has successfully staged top-tier global sporting events, including the 2015 World Men’s Handball Championship, reaffirming its status as one of the region’s premier sports venues.
