Milan: Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, president of the Olympic Council of Asia and the Qatar Olympic Committee, attended competitions at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, which Italy is hosting from Feb. 6 to 22 with athletes from around the world.
The visit forms part of efforts to monitor the progress of the Games and review organisational and technical aspects of staging the Olympics, which involve wide participation from national Olympic committees and international sports federations.
Sheikh Joaan also met members of the Qatari contingent assigned to the Games’ security committee, as part of cooperation between Qatar and Italy to enhance security preparedness, exchange expertise in organising major sporting events and ensure the highest safety standards during the Games.
