DOHA: The Qatar Football Association’s Development Department, in cooperation with Al Kass television channels, has concluded a four-day course on technical analysis and general football performance, aimed at enhancing the quality of sports analysis in local media.
The course was held at the Development Department hall and featured participation from several former Qatari international players and analysts from Al Kass. Certificates were distributed to participants by Fahad Thani Al-Zaraa, Director of the Development Department at the QFA, who also delivered a number of lectures during the programme.
The course covered a wide range of topics, including attacking and defensive principles, playing systems, performance indicators, player positioning, physical readiness analysis and modern trends in football, alongside the use of statistics in technical analysis.
“We believe in our role in developing football in all its aspects, and this programme represents a practical step towards providing a clearer technical vision for viewers and followers,” Al-Zaraa said. “Our focus was on moving analysts from impressions and opinions to technical reading based on realistic foundations and numbers.”
Al-Zaraa added that investing in technical analysts was an investment in sports media and said similar workshops would be organised in the future to keep pace with the rapid development of football.
Several former internationals, including Abdulaziz Hassan, Adel Khamis and Meshaal Abdullah, praised the initiative, stressing the importance of continuous education for analysts in light of the sport’s evolving tactical and analytical demands.
The course concluded with discussions among lecturers and participants on the outcomes of the programme and ways to further develop football analysis in Qatar.
