DOHA: The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) has announced the organization of Girls’ Buds Festivals for the 2025–2026 sports season, reinforcing its commitment to expanding grassroots participation and advancing the growth of women’s basketball in Qatar.
The weekly festivals will be held on Saturdays at the QBF Hall under the supervision of a specialized technical committee. Designed to discover early talent and develop fundamental skills, the initiative will provide young female players with a structured, competitive, and safe environment that encourages learning and enjoyment of the game.
The program is set to begin on January 10, 2026, followed by festivals on January 17, 24, and 31, before concluding with a final event on February 10, 2026, coinciding with Qatar National Sports Day. The closing festival will highlight the values of sportsmanship and promote an active, healthy lifestyle within the community.
The festivals are dedicated to girls born between 2014 and 2019, forming a key part of QBF’s long-term strategy to build a strong talent base and support the future of national teams. Participating teams are required to meet approved administrative conditions, including submitting player lists ahead of each festival, fielding squads of ten players, and ensuring the presence of both a coach and a supervisor to guarantee smooth organization and technical guidance.
