DOHA: Qatar’s Saleh Al-Kaabi demonstrated skill and composure to claim victory at the 39th Qatar Open Amateur Golf Championship, securing a one-stroke win at Doha Golf Club on Saturday.

Al-Kaabi posted a two-under-par 70 in the final round, finishing with a total score of 213—just ahead of Egypt’s Issa Abou El Ela (214). His triumph not only marks a significant achievement but also earns him a coveted spot in the prestigious Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

“We are delighted with Saleh’s remarkable victory. His dedication and progress in the sport are truly commendable,” said Walid Saad, Media Coordinator for the Qatar Golf Association and a member of the tournament’s organizing committee.

He added, “The Qatar Golf Association has been working tirelessly to enhance this tournament and nurture local talent. Al-Kaabi’s win is a proud moment for Qatar and an inspiration for future golfers.”

Overnight leader Daniil Sokolov, also representing Qatar, struggled in the final round, carding a six-over-par 78 to finish third at 216. Defending champion Calum Fitzgerald of England tied for fifth place with Qatar’s Ali Al-Shahrani (227), while England’s Joe Jones secured fourth place with a total of 226.
