Lausanne: Qatar’s men’s beach volleyball team, featuring the dynamic pairing of Cherif Younness and Ahmed Tijan, has surged to 10th place in the latest FIVB world rankings—an impressive jump from 12th earlier this month.
The rise in rankings comes on the back of a stellar run of form, capped by a dominant gold-medal performance at the Pingtan Asian Open Tour in China. In the final, the Qatari pair outclassed Australia’s Oliver Merritt and Ben Hood in straight sets, 21-15, 21-14.
This victory marks Qatar’s third gold on the Asian circuit this season, adding to their titles at the Samila Open in Thailand and the Doha Open. The consistent success further cements their reputation as one of the top beach volleyball teams in Asia.
Elsewhere in the rankings, Norway’s top-ranked duo Anders Berntsen Mol and Sorum Kristian Snadli continue to lead the global standings, with Sweden’s David Åhman and Jonathan Hellvig holding second place.
Qatar’s national team remains in peak form and looks poised to push even further up the rankings as the season unfolds, showcasing their growing dominance on the international beach volleyball stage.
