Doha, October 16, 2025 – Qatar’s national 3×3 basketball team is finalizing preparations to compete in the third Asian Youth Games, hosted by Bahrain’s capital, Manama, from October 22 to 31. The event will feature elite youth teams from across Asia in a wide array of sports disciplines.
Representing Qatar in the fast-paced 3×3 basketball competition are four talented players: Mohammed Saeed Badri (Al Rayyan), Bekayakan Mbodji (Al Arabi), Mohammed Diop (Al Arabi), and Azzam Mohammed Yaken (Al Gharafa). The delegation is led by Captain Yassin Ismail, head of the Qatar Basketball Federation’s 3×3 program.
The team is wrapping up intensive training in Doha before departing for Bahrain on October 21, 2025.
Captain Yassin Ismail emphasized the significance of the participation, stating it marks a key milestone in advancing Qatar’s basketball development. “Our goal is to deliver a strong performance that aligns with the Qatar Basketball Federation’s ambitions and showcases the growing level of the sport in the country,” he said.
Ismail highlighted the team’s rigorous preparation, which included focused drills on speed, precision, and shooting skills, alongside internal friendly matches designed to build team cohesion and competitive readiness.
3×3 basketball has emerged as one of the most thrilling events in Asian Games, captivating audiences with its high-energy action on a half-court format and shortened game times. This setup demands exceptional mental and physical fitness from players, turning each match into a true test of agility and strategy.
Qatar’s squad aims to secure positive results and build on the nation’s proud basketball legacy, which has seen commendable achievements in previous Asian and international tournaments.
