DOHA : Aspire Park hosted the conclusion of the third edition of the Meraas 3 Seashore Calisthenics Championship on Friday, underscoring Qatar’s growing focus on youth sport, physical fitness and emerging disciplines.

The tournament was sponsored by Seashore Group as main sponsor, Aspire Zone Foundation as platinum sponsor, Alwan Al Khaleej as gold sponsor, and Mazraati, Oakberry and Peninsular as bronze sponsors, and was supervised by Kalos Fitness.

Calisthenics, which relies on bodyweight exercises to develop strength, flexibility and balance, is among the fastest-growing sports globally and is gaining popularity in Qatar due to its accessibility and emphasis on functional fitness.

A total of 43 Qatari athletes competed across two categories – lightweight (under 68 kg) and heavyweight (over 68 kg) – in tests that included push-ups, pull-ups, squats, muscle-ups and a 40 kg deadlift.

In the lightweight category, Abdulaziz Al-Hasawi claimed first place and a prize of 50,000 riyals, followed by Nasser Flamerzi and Faraj Al-Marri. In the heavyweight division, Abdulrahman Al-Ma’dadi took top honours, ahead of Youssef Al-Balushi and Abdullah Al-Musleh.

Ahmed Mohammed Al-Hassan, Executive Director of Facilities and Events at Aspire Zone Foundation, said the championship reflected the increasing popularity of modern fitness sports among Qatari youth.

“Our continued support for youth championships stems from our belief that young people are the cornerstone of the future of sports in Qatar,” Al-Hassan said, adding that calisthenics aligned with efforts to promote healthy lifestyles.

Seashore Group CEO Salem Saeed Al-Mohannadi said the sponsorship reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting youth and promoting a sports culture in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Kalos Fitness director Omar Al Emadi described the championship as a milestone for calisthenics in Qatar, citing strong technical standards and growing public interest.

The event attracted a large and diverse audience, highlighting rising engagement with fitness-focused sports across the country.
