RIYADH: Qatar wrapped up its campaign at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh with three podium finishes on the final day, boosting its overall medal tally to 11.
The men’s fencing team of Khalid AlYafei, Adham Al Deeb, and Abdullah Khalifa delivered a strong performance in the team foil event, narrowly missing out on gold after a tight 43-45 defeat to Uzbekistan, securing the silver medal.
In handball, Qatar claimed bronze with an impressive 36-28 victory over the UAE, showcasing their depth and resilience. On the track, Abubakr Haidar added another bronze to the tally, clocking 1:46.26 in the men’s 800m.
Qatar’s delegation concluded the Games with 3 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals across 16 sports, including athletics, handball, fencing, and camel racing, marking a successful campaign in Riyadh.
