Doha : The Qatar Basketball Federation has announced the organization of Girls’ Buds Festivals for the 2025–2026 sports season, as part of its ongoing efforts to expand the base of sports practitioners and enhance the development of women’s basketball in the State of Qatar.
These weekly festivals will be held on Saturdays under the supervision of a specialized technical committee. They are part of the federation’s plan to discover early talents and develop the skills of young female players in an organized, competitive, and safe environment. All festival events will take place at the Qatar Basketball Federation Hall according to an approved schedule.
The festivals are scheduled to launch on January 10, 2026, with subsequent events on January 17, 24, and 31. The season will conclude with the final festival on February 10, 2026, coinciding with the State’s National Sports Day, promoting sportsmanship and encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle within the community.
This initiative is dedicated to female players born between 2014 and 2019, aiming to build a strong foundation of promising talent that supports the long-term development of basketball locally and strengthens future national teams.
The federation has emphasized the importance of adhering to approved administrative requirements. These include submitting player lists prior to each festival, registering ten players per team, and ensuring the presence of both a coach and a supervisor—male or female—to guarantee proper organization and technical support.
The technical and organizational aspects of the festivals will be overseen by the Qatar Basketball Federation’s Technical Committee. The committee is responsible for approving logos and organizing team distribution on the court, ensuring the achievement of the festivals’ technical and educational objectives.
