DOHA : The fourth round of the Second Division League will be played on Tuesday evening, with promotion hopefuls Lusail and Al Markhiya both facing tests as the campaign gathers pace.
League leaders Lusail, who have 18 points, are expected to strengthen their push for promotion when they take on bottom side Al Waab at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium. Al Waab sit eighth with just two points from their opening matches.
Second-placed Al Markhiya, on 16 points, face a sterner challenge against fourth-placed Muaither at Al Khor Stadium. Muaither, who have 10 points, know they can no longer afford dropped points if they are to remain in the promotion race as the second half of the season begins.
Third-placed Al Kharaitiyat, with 13 points, will look to keep pace with the top two when they meet sixth-placed Al Bidda, who have seven points, at Saud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium.
Elsewhere, Al Mu’aidar and Al Khor meet at Thani Bin Jassim Stadium in a closely balanced contest. Al Mu’aidar are fifth on seven points, while Al Khor are seventh with six, with little separating the two sides on current form.
