NOTTINGHAM: Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou says he was not surprised to hear supporters calling for his dismissal after Thursday’s 3-2 Europa League defeat to Midtjylland but insists his focus remains on improving results.
The Australian, who took over from Nuno Espirito Santo last month, has endured a torrid start, becoming the first permanent Forest boss in a century to go winless in his opening six matches.
Home fans at the City Ground voiced their frustration with chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning”, but Postecoglou said he understood the reaction.
“They are allowed to have an opinion on it. I heard their opinion,” he told reporters. “Nothing surprises me in football. It’s the climate we’re in. My responsibility is to make sure we get some wins for this football club.”
The 60-year-old, formerly in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, insisted he believes in the process and is confident his side are close to turning a corner.
“I really believe in what we’re doing,” he added. “We’re not far away from being the team that can eradicate this situation and get the results.”
Forest will be hoping for their first victory under Postecoglou in their upcoming league fixture.
