ROME: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) on Tuesday signed the host contract for the 10th Asian Winter Games, scheduled to be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 2029.
The signing ceremony took place in Milan, Italy, in the presence of OCA President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, members of the International Olympic Committee, presidents and representatives of international and continental federations, and senior officials from national Olympic committees, completing the institutional procedures required to stage the continental event.
Sheikh Joaan said the signing reflected the OCA’s commitment to developing winter sports across Asia.He added that the Asian Winter Games provide an important platform for strengthening cooperation and solidarity among national Olympic committees, in line with the OCA’s vision of advancing sport across the continent at all levels.
