DUBAI: Namibia and Zimbabwe booked their tickets to the 2026 T20 Cricket World Cup in India and Sri Lanka after winning their semi-finals at the African qualifiers in Harare on Thursday.
Namibia cruised to a 63-run victory over Tanzania, powered by JJ Smit’s outstanding all-round display. The left-hander struck an unbeaten 61 off 43 deliveries before claiming 3-16 with the ball to seal his side’s spot at the global showpiece.
Zimbabwe, meanwhile, brushed aside Kenya with a comfortable seven-wicket win. Chasing 123, they were guided by Brian Bennett’s blistering 51 off 25 balls, continuing his rich vein of form.
The two sides will now face off in Saturday’s qualifier final, although both have already achieved the ultimate prize—qualification for the World Cup.
Seventeen of the 20 tournament slots are now filled, with the final three to be decided at the Asia-Pacific Region qualifiers in Oman next week.
