DOHA: Morocco’s head coach Tarik Sektioui expressed his determination to secure a victory against Saudi Arabia in Monday’s Group B clash of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, emphasizing the importance of the match for quarter-final qualification.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Sektioui highlighted the positive atmosphere within the Moroccan camp and confirmed that the team would field a full-strength squad to aim for the top spot in the group, avoiding reliance on complicated qualification calculations.
He also praised Saudi Arabia for its strong squad, underlining that Morocco approaches every match respectfully and strategically.
Saudi Arabia’s assistant coach Francois Rodriguez stressed the importance of maintaining their winning momentum by securing maximum points to remain atop the group. He noted that the Saudi team would continue its tournament campaign in the same ascending rhythm as in previous matches.
Rodriguez also acknowledged Morocco’s offensive strength and said the technical staff, led by Herve Renard, was considering various lineup options, including introducing some new players for the encounter.
Currently, Saudi Arabia lead Group B with 6 points, having already confirmed its quarter-final berth, while Morocco sits second with four points, seeking a win to secure group leadership regardless of the outcome of the Oman-Comoros match. (QNA)
