RABAT: Algeria made a flying start to their tournament campaign with a dominant 3-0 victory over Sudan, collecting all three points in their opening encounter. The Fennecs wasted no time in asserting control as captain Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring in just the second minute, setting the tone for a confident display.
Algeria continued to dictate proceedings and were rewarded again in the 62nd minute when Mahrez struck for the second time, underlining his influence on the match. Sudan struggled to cope with the Fennecs’ tempo and movement as Algeria tightened their grip on the contest.
The win was sealed late on when Ibrahim Maza joined the scoresheet in the 85th minute, calmly finishing to make it 3-0. The emphatic result gives Algeria a strong platform in the tournament and sends an early warning to their rivals.
