ITTF high-performance training camp launched

DOHA (Qatar): The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) is hosting its high-performance training camp at the Qatar Table Tennis Association Training hall in Doha from Wednesday.

The training camp the first one hosted by ITTF in a year’s time will last for 13 days and will be attended by players taking part in the WTT Middle East Hub events and also the Olympic qualification events taking place in Qatar.

Qatar will host the Olympic qualifiers starting March 14th and ending on 17th.

The training camp conducted by the ITTF Performance unit led by ITTF High Performance Elite Coach, Massimo Costantini, winner of the 2017 world’s best coach award.

Speaking on the sidelines of the training camp Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, Secretary General of the Qatar Table Tennis Association said “Hosting WTT Middle East Hub Table events besides the Olympic and Asian qualifiers have strengthened Qatar’s position as one of the world’s top sports destinations.”

“Qatar has succeeded in setting new standards for the global table tennis, paving the way towards the beginning of a new era of professionalism,” he added.

For the players, a minimum attendance of the camp is three days is needed, and it will feature two educational seminars.

“The camp is ideally suited for those players who are competing in one, two or three of the four events and would like to make the most of their time in the Middle East by combining world-class events with a world-class training opportunity,” the ITTF said on its website.
