AHMEDABAD: India wrapped up a commanding victory over West Indies by an innings and 140 runs on day three of the opening Test in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
After declaring their first innings at 448-5, the hosts dismissed the visitors for 162 and 146 in their two innings to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Alick Athanaze (38) and Justin Greaves (25) provided brief resistance, but India’s relentless bowling attack ensured there was no comeback for the Caribbean side.
Ravindra Jadeja, who had earlier scored a century, starred with the ball as well, claiming 4-54 to seal India’s dominant win.
The teams will meet again for the second and final Test in New Delhi from October 10.
