Doha: Qatar is set to open the 2026 Doha Equestrian Tours with the inaugural Amir’s Father’s Highness Equestrian Prize, an event featuring over 240 riders and prize money exceeding 3.3 million euros.
The competition runs from January 2 to 31 at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab.
The tournament marks the first of ten international events under the Doha Equestrian Tours 2026, which will run through April 4 with total prize funds surpassing 10 million euros.

Badr bin Mohammed Al Darwish, President of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, said the prize is a strategic initiative reflecting Qatar’s commitment to using sport for sustainable development and enhancing its international sporting profile. The event also honors Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Amir’s Father, who was instrumental in developing Qatar’s sports infrastructure and preserving equestrianism as a core element of the nation’s cultural heritage.
“The tournament enhances Qatar’s global equestrian standing and supports growth in local and regional equestrian sports,” Al Darwish said. “It also drives economic benefits through tourism, investment, and the hosting of major international sporting events.”
Sheikh Ahmed bin Nouh Al Thani, Secretary-General of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, highlighted the federation’s dedication to delivering a world-class competition aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030. The event features multiple competition levels from one to five stars, including categories for juniors and youth, promoting broad participation and talent development.

Preparations at the Longines Arena include arena setup, judging, logistics, hospitality, and broadcast arrangements to provide an integrated sporting experience for competitors and fans.
The Doha Equestrian Tours are now among the leading global equestrian events, bolstering Doha’s reputation as a premier sports destination.
