HARARE: Aaron George’s composed century, backed by aggressive half-centuries from IPL prospects Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre, steered India into the ICC Under-19 World Cup final with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Afghanistan in Harare on Wednesday.
Chasing a stiff target of 311 after Afghanistan rode centuries from Faisal Shinozada (110) and Uzairullah Niazai (101) to post 310 for four, India produced their highest-ever successful chase in U-19 World Cup history, getting home in just 41.1 overs.
George anchored the innings with a fluent 115 off 104 balls, blending calm shot selection with assured strokeplay, while Suryavanshi (68) and Mhatre (62) injected momentum through decisive middle-order partnerships.
The win takes India into their 10th U-19 World Cup final, underlining the strength and consistency of the BCCI’s junior development system. India will face England in Friday’s summit clash, with another title firmly within reach.
