DOHA (Qatar): Hundreds of people across the world are engaging with Generation Amazing’s football for development sessions – which are being streamed live on the Qatar 2022 legacy programme’s social media channels.

Transmitted on a daily basis at 4 PM Doha time (GMT+3), the sessions include information about keeping fit and remaining in a positive mindset during the COVID-19 pandemic – which has forced most people around the world to stay at home.

The sessions convey the core values of Generation Amazing – which teaches key life skills through football. The broadcasts feature a variety of at-home exercises, health tips and interviews with key figures from the sport for development sector.

The sessions have been led by a variety of Generation Amazing figures, including master coaches Michael Richardson and Hamad Mohamed, and beIN SPORTS anchor Mohamed Saadon Al Kuwari, who presented a talk about remaining fit and active while at home.

To mark the UN International Day of Sport and Peace, Generation Amazing Programme Director Nasser Al Khori hosted an Instagram live session with KAS Eupen’s Head of CSR, Jessica Loo, on sport and inclusion, which highlighted the entities’ joint programme aimed at the social integration of refugees in Belgium.

Speaking about the success of the online sessions, Al Khori said: “It’s been fantastic to get our live sessions going – it’s so important to us that we can continue to offer our programme to our audiences at a difficult time for the world and for communities who usually benefit an awful lot from sport. We’re determined to find ways to ensure that people can continue to use football to keep healthy, informed and active.”

The sessions have proved popular in Qatar, Oman and Belgium, with many tuning in with their entire families to copy the drills and exercises.

Generation Amazing’s Marketing & Communications Director, Moza Al Mohannadi, said: “We’re excited to see such an international audience interacting with us via the @GA4Good accounts and look forward to connecting with people, young and old, who can benefit from our unique football for development methodology. In the coming week we’ll see more of this, plus some familiar sporting faces in the live sessions.” (Source: SC.qa)
