LONDON: Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank compared his current spell in charge of the north London club to running a gruelling marathon, admitting he is going through a “heavy mile” as results and performances test patience.
Spurs were held to a scoreless draw at Brentford on Thursday, leaving them 12th in the Premier League standings with just one win from their last four matches. The stalemate prompted chants of “Boring, boring Tottenham” from sections of the crowd, while Frank was booed as he applauded travelling supporters at full-time.
Asked on Friday whether he was enjoying his time at Tottenham, Frank was candid in his assessment, acknowledging the strain of the situation. He said difficult moments are rarely enjoyable but are necessary to push through in order to move forward.
Frank explained that, like running hard during the toughest part of a race, the team must keep its head down and stay in the fight. He believes the current challenges will eventually prove valuable, suggesting that when the period is viewed in hindsight, it will be seen as a crucial learning experience that helps shape a stronger future for the club.
For now, however, the Spurs boss admitted the reality is simple: it is not enjoyable, but it is necessary.
