COLUMBIA : Thomas Haugh scored 18 points as No. 19 Florida cruised to a dominant 95-48 Southeastern Conference road victory over South Carolina on Wednesday, leading nearly wire to wire.
Rueben Chinyelu recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Gators (15-6, 6-2), while Urban Klavzar added 11 points off the bench. Alex Condon finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, and Boogie Fland contributed 10 points and six assists.
Florida shot 38 of 61 from the field, including 9 of 21 from three-point range, and outrebounded South Carolina 45-24. The Gators registered 28 assists, with Xaivian Lee accounting for nine.
Eli Ellis led the Gamecocks (11-10, 2-6) with 13 points off the bench, while Meechie Johnson added 10. South Carolina struggled offensively, making just 15 of 58 shots overall and 3 of 20 from beyond the arc.
Florida built a 28-point halftime lead and quickly extended it after the break with an 8-2 run. A dunk by Fland off a Lee assist made it 56-22 early in the second half, and the margin continued to grow as the Gators maintained control at both ends of the court.
The Gators, who had struggled offensively in the frontcourt during a home loss to Auburn last weekend, found balance early. Klavzar hit consecutive three-pointers to spark an 18-8 lead, and Chinyelu capped a 15-0 run with a jumper to make it 35-11 late in the first half.
Florida took a commanding 48-20 advantage into the break and never looked back.
