DOHA: FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has affirmed that the 2025 Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix will set a new benchmark for the region’s importance in the global motorsports landscape. As the drivers’ championship nears its decisive phase, the penultimate round of the season—scheduled for next Sunday at Lusail International Circuit—will once again highlight Qatar’s rising stature within Formula 1.
Ben Sulayem emphasised that Lusail has grown into a pivotal venue, not only for hosting elite racing but also for nurturing future talent. The FIA’s efforts to widen global participation in motorsports are being strongly supported in Qatar, where an ideal environment exists for both ambitious young drivers and seasoned professionals.
The expansion of karting initiatives, the strengthening of the Middle East Formula 4 Championship, and significant investments in training race officials and volunteers are among the key developments reinforcing this progress. These initiatives form a clear and progressive pathway for emerging talent to reach the highest levels of Formula 1.
The FIA President stressed that the Qatar Grand Prix represents far more than a sporting event—describing it as a symbol of the nation’s ambition to elevate motorsports from grassroots programmes to the world stage. He added that Lusail International Circuit stands as a testament to a shared vision that combines innovation, sustainability, and a deep commitment to the future of racing.
As anticipation builds for next weekend’s Grand Prix, Qatar is ready to further cement its role as a driving force in the evolution of global motorsport.
