England name ODI squad for Netherlands tour

Australia were cruising to a modest target of 232 at 144-2 before losing four wickets for three runs, including captain Aaron Finch for 73, to be 147-6. Sam Curran then took two wickets in two balls before leg-spinner Adil Rashid ended the match with eight balls to spare when he had Alex Carey stumped. Earlier, Australia held England to 231-9, with captain Eoin Morgan top-scoring with 42 after he won the toss. Leg-spinner Adam Zampa took 3-36 from his maximum 10 overs. England were in dire trouble at 149-8 before a ninth-wicket partnership of 76 between Tom Curran (37) and Adil Rashid (35 not out) kept them in the game. The series concludes at Old Trafford on Wednesday -- England's final match of a season where they will have played their 18 scheduled international fixtures, albeit behind closed doors, despite the coronavirus pandemic. LONDON: England’s selection committee has named a 14-strong squad for the three-match ODI series of The Netherlands starting at Amstelveen on 17 June.

Lancashire seamer Luke Wood and Gloucestershire paceman David Payne are the uncapped players named in the squad. This will be Wood’s first call-up to the senior squad, and Payne has been involved previously in last summer’s ODIs against Pakistan.

ODI Series Schedule

1st ODI: The Netherlands v England, Friday 17 June, VRA Cricket Club, Amstelveen
2nd ODI: The Netherlands v England, Sunday 19 June, VRA Cricket Club, Amstelveen
3rd ODI: The Netherlands v England, Wednesday 22 June, VRA Cricket Club, Amstelveen

“I’m very excited to be coaching a strong squad for my first series in charge. We have tremendous depth with a blend of youth and experience,” said Matthew Mott, England’s white-ball Head Coach. 

The three-match ODI series, which are part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, starts a busy summer for England with a series against India and South Africa scheduled also on the cards.
