DOHA (Qatar): Qatar’s champion athlete Abderrahman Samba has confirmed that all athletes have suffered from great difficulty conducting their training since the spread of COVID-19 all over the world.

Samba added in a press statement on Monday, to the “Live with Al Adaam” programme through the account of the Qatar Olympic Committee on Instagram that with the gradual lifting of restrictions, he has begun to return to the exercises almost naturally in preparation for upcoming championships.

On the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics, Samba said the postponement of the Games to 2021 has been good for him because of his recent injury.

Samba said that he would not forget the moment when he received direct congratulations from HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee at the Khalifa International Stadium after he won the bronze medal in 400 meters hurdles at the 2019 World Athletics Championships Doha.

About Qatar’s Olympic and World high jump champion Mutaz Essa Barshim, Samba said that Barshim always gives us hope, patience and shows professionalism thanks to his great aspirations. “I’ve learned a lot from him.”
