KOLKATA: Indian football champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant have suspended their first-team activities as uncertainty surrounds the Indian Super League (ISL), the country’s top-tier competition.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has yet to secure a buyer for the ISL’s commercial rights, leaving the league’s future in doubt. On Friday, the AIFF confirmed that its latest call for bids received no responses.
A senior Mohun Bagan official told Reuters on Saturday that the club will resume first-team operations once there is clarity on the ISL’s status, though he expressed doubts that the league would begin before mid-January.
