DOHA – Al-Duhail forward Adel Boulbina said he was pleased with his side’s 2-0 victory over Al-Waab in their Emir Cup round-of-16 clash at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium.
The Algerian, who opened the scoring from the penalty spot, said the team had been fully focused on securing qualification to the quarter-finals of a competition they hold in high regard.
“We entered this match with the aim of winning and securing passage to the quarter-finals of the Emir Cup,” Boulbina said after the game. “This tournament has great importance and a special status, so we were focused on achieving victory.”
He added that progressing in knockout matches was the priority.
“In games like these, the most important thing is to win in order to move forward to the next rounds, and that is what we achieved in the end,” he said.
Boulbina also stressed that the campaign remains long, with key fixtures still to come.
“The season is still long and we have important matches ahead. Our focus will be on the Emir Cup and the AFC Champions League, and we hope to achieve what we are aiming for in the end,” he said.
