LONDON: Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said his side’s place at the top of the Premier League was a “privilege” earned through months of sustained consistency as they prepare to face bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers
.Arsenal hold a four-point lead over second-placed Manchester City after 26 matches ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Wolves.“The position we are in is a privilege because we have earned it and for so long,” Arteta told reporters on Tuesday.
“Seven and a half months is a long time to do the right things every single day and perform at the level we are. We need to embrace that,” he added.Arteta said his players were aware of the growing importance of results as the season enters its decisive phase.
“When you get to the latter stages of the season you understand the importance of every win and what you have to do,” he said. “The team are in a good emotional state and really looking forward to playing tomorrow.”
