DOHA: Al Shamal reached the quarter finals of the 53rd edition of Amir Cup, after defeating Al Arabi 3-1 in the match on Wednesday at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
Al Shamal scored through Mohamed Al Mannai, Tunisian Naim Sliti, and Algerian Baghdad Bounedjah in the 23rd, 59th, and 86th minutes respectively, while Al Arabi’s only goal came via a penalty kick in the 6th minute.
Al Arabi, champions of the previous edition, played with ten men from the 66th minute after their midfielder Luiz Martin was sent off.
Al Shamal will face Umm Salal, who defeated Al Khor 4-1 in the quarterfinals.
