DOHA – Al Wakrah booked their place in the Emir Cup quarter-finals with a 2-0 victory over Al Sailiya at Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium.
A largely uneventful first half saw few clear-cut chances as Al Sailiya imposed a disciplined defensive approach that kept Al Wakrah’s attack at bay.
The breakthrough came in the 58th minute when Omar Salah fired Al Wakrah ahead, a goal that shifted the momentum of the contest.
Al Sailiya responded with increased urgency and created several opportunities, the best of which fell to Anwar El Ghazi, whose effort was denied by goalkeeper Saud Al Khater.
Al Wakrah regained control in the closing stages and sealed the win in the 85th minute when Radwan Barkan headed home to secure a comfortable passage to the last eight of the competition.
