DOHA : Al Wakrah and Al Sailiya will meet on Tuesday at Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium in the round of 16 of the Emir Cup, with both sides targeting a place in the quarter-finals of Qatar’s premier knockout competition.
The match, scheduled for a 7:15 p.m. kickoff, pits two evenly matched teams eager to advance, with the single-elimination format adding extra intensity to the contest.
Al Wakrah coach Vicente Moreno said his side were aiming not only to secure victory but to challenge for the title.
“We have the ambition not just to win this match, but to go far and compete for the championship,” Moreno said ahead of the tie.
Al Sailiya coach Mirghani Al-Zein echoed that determination despite the challenges facing his team, saying the knockout stage provides added motivation.
Both teams have experienced shifts in form in the domestic league, and those changes could have a positive impact on their performances in Tuesday’s encounter as they seek to extend their Emir Cup campaign.
