DOHA: Al Shamal cruised to a 4-1 victory over Al Kharaitiyat in an entertaining QSL Cup Group Stage clash on Tuesday evening at Hamad Al Kabir Stadium, home of Al Arabi Club.
Al Shamal took control early, racing to a three-goal lead by halftime. Tamer Siam opened the scoring in the 17th minute, before Mohamed Waad doubled the advantage four minutes later. Omar Ali made it 3-0 on the stroke of halftime to put Al Shamal firmly in command.
Al Kharaitiyat pulled one back in the 80th minute through Rodrigo Tabata, but any hopes of a late comeback were ended when Adam Ounas struck Al Shamal’s fourth goal in stoppage time.
The QSL Cup resumed this week during the league break, as Qatari clubs were involved in Super Cup matches against teams from the United Arab Emirates.
The win earned Al Shamal three points, lifting them to 15 points in ninth place. Al Kharaitiyat, meanwhile, suffered their fifth defeat of the competition and remain on 13 points in 13th position.
The match was officiated by referee Nasser Ayesh, assisted by Salem Al-Marri and Abdulaziz Al-Shaiba, with Abdulkarim Al-Anzi serving as fourth official.
