DOHA : Al Sadd overturned a one-goal deficit to claim a hard-fought and valuable 3-2 victory over Qatar SC on Thursday evening at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium, in a thrilling encounter from the 12th round of the Doha Bank Stars League 2025/26 season.
Qatar SC enjoyed a strong start and went ahead in the third minute through Joao Pedro. Al Sadd responded in the 32nd minute when captain Akram Afif found the net to level the score.
However, Qatar SC regained the lead just before halftime as Niall Mason struck in the final minute, sending his side into the break with a 2-1 advantage.
Al Sadd came out determined after the interval and drew level early in the second half, with Roberto Firmino scoring the equaliser. The comeback was completed 10 minutes later when Rafa Mojica netted Al Sadd’s third goal to put them ahead for the first time in the match.
The victory lifted Al Sadd into second place in the standings, level on points with Al Rayyan. The match was not without concern for the winners, however, as Afif — who both scored and played a key role in the comeback — was forced off injured 10 minutes from time.
