DOHA: Al Rayyan staged a late comeback to secure a 2-1 victory over Al Ahli in Matchday 16 of the Doha Bank Stars League at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium on Sunday.
Al Ahli went ahead in the 29th minute when Spanish forward Erik Exposito found the net to give his side a deserved lead at the break.
Al Rayyan responded in the closing stages, with Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic equalising in the 82nd minute to set up a tense finish. Spaniard Rodrigo Moreno then struck in stoppage time, scoring in the 91st minute to complete the turnaround.
The win lifted Al Rayyan to 28 points, keeping them fourth in the standings, while Al Ahli slumped to a fourth straight defeat and remained 10th on 15 points.
