DOHA: The eighth round of the Qatar Basketball League for the 2025–2026 season will wrap up on Saturday with two decisive encounters at Al Gharafa Indoor Hall.

The first matchup at 6:00 PM features Al Rayyan taking on Al Wakrah. Al Rayyan will look to secure two crucial points to strengthen their presence in the golden square, while Al Wakrah aims to bounce back from recent setbacks and re-enter the competitive mix.

Al Shamal vs Al Arabi Headlines the Round
At 8:00 PM, Al Shamal faces league leaders Al Arabi in the round’s marquee game. Al Arabi will seek to maintain their top position and extend their impressive run of form, while Al Shamal hopes to halt their rival’s momentum and close the gap in the standings, given their position directly behind Al Arabi.

Current League Standings
Al Arabi leads the table with 12 points from 6 matches, tied with second-placed Al Sadd, who have played 7 games.
Al Rayyan sits third with 11 points from 6 matches, level with Al Shamal in fourth place after 7 matches.
Al Wakrah and Al Ahli follow with 10 points each, though Al Wakrah has played 6 matches to Al Ahli’s 7.
Al Gharafa holds seventh place with 9 points from 7 matches, trailed by Al Khor with 8 points, and Qatar Club in ninth with 7 points.

Al Ahli Absent This Round
The round will proceed without Al Ahli, as per tournament rules granting each team a mandatory rest match during the season. This break offers other clubs a strategic opportunity to solidify their positions and capitalize on the competitive balance ahead of the decisive stages in the coming rounds.
