DOHA: Al Rayyan booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Emir Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win over Al Khor on Saturday evening in the round of 16.
Playing at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium, the Qatar SC venue, Al Rayyan took control in the first half as Aleksandar Mitrovic opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Roger Guedes doubled the lead two minutes before the break.There were no further goals after halftime, with Al Rayyan managing the game to seal qualification for the last eight of the 2025/26 Emir Cup.
Al Rayyan will face Al Wakrah in the quarter-finals after Al Wakrah defeated Al Sailiya in their round-of-16 match.Al Khor finished the game with 10 men after Ambrose Uchebo was sent off in the 53rd minute, having collected a second yellow card following an earlier booking in the first half.
The result continues Al Rayyan’s strong record in the competition against Al Khor, marking a fifth consecutive Emir Cup victory over their opponents. Al Rayyan were finalists in the previous edition, losing the title match to Al Gharafa.
