DOHA : Al Arabi midfielder Ahmed Fathi said his side showed resilience to secure a 4-2 victory over Umm Salal in the 14th round of the Doha Bank Stars League at Al Khor Stadium.
Al Arabi raced into a commanding four-goal lead early in the match before the contest turned following a red card that left them a man down.
“We played a good game at the beginning and took a big lead with four goals, but the match became much more difficult after one of our players was sent off,” Fathi said after the game.
The midfielder described the result as a tough but vital success, stressing that there are no easy fixtures in the league.
“It was a very difficult win, but all league matches are like this. The most important thing for us was to take the three points,” he added.
Fathi said Al Arabi’s supporters were expecting more than a top-four finish, insisting the team was moving in the right direction.
“Our fans have bigger ambitions, and the team is on the right path. The future will be better,” he said.
