DOHA: Al Arabi strengthened their grip on the top of the Qatari Basketball League standings after a commanding 81-66 victory over Al Ahli on Thursday, in the 13th round of the second division of the 2025–2026 season.
The defending champions set the tone early with a dominant opening quarter, racing to a 33-12 lead. They maintained control through the remaining periods, winning the second quarter 16-15 before Al Ahli edged the third 22-19 and the final quarter 17-13, though the outcome was never seriously in doubt.
The result underlined Al Arabi’s authority, as they imposed their style of play from the outset to reaffirm their credentials as leading contenders for the title. The win lifted Al Arabi to 24 points from 13 matches, keeping them one point clear of Al Rayyan in second place. Al Ahli remain third on 21 points, narrowly ahead of Al Sadd, who sit fourth with a game in hand.
In the other match of the round, Al Gharafa edged past Qatar SC 103-99 in a closely fought and entertaining contest. Al Gharafa claimed the first two quarters 24-20 and 33-23, before withstanding a late challenge to seal the win and move to sixth place on 17 points. Qatar SC stay eighth with 15 points.
With the decisive rounds approaching, the battle for positions remains intense across the league.
