DOHA: Al Arabi advanced to the quarter-finals of the QSL Football Cup after defeating Qatar SC 12-11 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in regular time at Saud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium in Al Wakrah on Monday.
Qatar SC took the lead through Yann Mateus in the 16th minute, but Al Arabi equalised after the break when Ekambi struck in the 56th minute. Joao Pedro restored Qatar SC’s advantage two minutes later before Joao Daros netted a stoppage-time equaliser in the 90+3rd minute.
With the match level at the end of regulation, Al Arabi held their nerve in a marathon penalty shootout to secure progression in the knockout stage of the tournament.
