DOHA – Al Arabi take on Al Shahaniya on Friday evening at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in the round of 16 of the 2025/2026 Emir Cup.
Nine-time champions Al Arabi are seeking to revive their bid for silverware and mount a strong challenge for the country’s most prestigious cup competition as they aim to keep their domestic campaign on track.
Al Shahaniya, meanwhile, enter the knockout tie with ambitions of their own in a single-elimination format where the winner advances to the quarter-finals.
The encounter also pits Al Arabi’s Portuguese coach Cosmin Contra against Al Shahaniya’s Iranian coach Pejman Montazeri in what will be the first meeting between the two sides at any stage of the Emir Cup.
The match will be officiated by referee Salman Al-Falahi, assisted by Ramzan Saeed Al-Nuaimi and Mohammed Al-Harami. Nasser Ayesh will serve as fourth official, with Naif Mohammed Al-Qadri as video assistant referee and Hamad Saleh Al-Eisani as assistant VAR.
