DOHA: Al Ahli SC announced on Tuesday the signing of Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong on a one-and-a-half-season contract, with the centre back joining from Saudi club Al-Kholood.
In a statement on the club’s official website, Al Ahli confirmed that the 32-year-old has completed his move and linked up with the first team. Troost-Ekong arrives as a replacement for Croatian defender Matej Mitrovic, whose season-ending injury brought his spell with the club to an early end.
Al Ahli said the signing fits the club’s technical vision and addresses the need for experience in central defence. Troost-Ekong is expected to play a key role during the 2025–2026 campaign as the club competes in the AFC Champions League Round of 16, the Qatar Stars League and the Amir Cup.
