DOHA : Al-Ahli coach Younes Ali said his side will approach their Challenge Cup clash against UAE champions Al-Jazira with full concentration as they chase the Qatari-Emirati Super Cup title.
“Tomorrow’s match will not be easy, but we will enter it with full focus in order to achieve victory and the title,” Ali told a press conference on the eve of the game.
He said Al-Ahli’s preparations had gone smoothly and expected a demanding contest. “Our preparations have been excellent for this match, which promises to be a tough and exciting one for the fans. We will strive to deliver a high-level performance,” Ali added, noting his familiarity with the competition after previously winning the title as a coach.
Al-Ahli midfielder Julian Draxler echoed his coach’s confidence while acknowledging the challenge posed by their opponents.
“Facing Al-Jazira is difficult because it is a strong team, but we will do everything we can to deliver a good performance and achieve victory and win the title,” Draxler said.
The former Germany international stressed the wider significance of the match. “We represent Qatari football and the club in this challenge with the ambition to win,” he said. “I look forward to adding a new title to my record as a player, and all my teammates want the same thing.”
Draxler added that Al-Ahli’s place in the final was the reward for a successful previous season, which he described as “wonderful.”
