DOHA :Qatar’s Al-Ahli booked their place in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League 2 with a 1-0 extra-time victory over Iran’s Sepahan on Wednesday.
The second leg of the round-of-16 tie, played at Al Thumama Stadium, finished goalless in regulation time before striker Omar Sekou struck in the 92nd minute, early in the first period of extra time.
The breakthrough proved decisive as Al-Ahli held on to seal their passage to the last eight.
The first leg between the sides, also played at Al Thumama Stadium, had ended in a 2-2 draw, leaving the tie finely poised heading into Wednesday’s encounter.
