RIYADH: The Japanese national team qualified for the semifinals of AFC U-23 Asian Cup after they defeated Jordan 4-2 on penalties.
The match had ended 1-1 after regular and extra time.
Jordan took the lead through Ali Al-Azaizeh in the 30th minute, before Japan equalized in the second half courtesy Anas Al-Khab own-goal in 50th minute.
Japan will meet the winner of tomorrow’s match between Australia and South Korea in the semifinals.
