Doha: Istanbul will host two major events on the International Boxing Association (IBA) calendar this December, with the Global Boxing Forum scheduled for 4 December and the IBA Ordinary Election Congress set for 5 December 2026.
The Global Boxing Forum will bring together boxing leaders, National Federations, stakeholders and partners to discuss the sport’s development, showcase innovative projects and explore opportunities for international collaboration.
The following day, the IBA Ordinary Election Congress will provide National Federations with an opportunity to participate in the organisation’s decision-making process, including the election of members of the Board of Directors. The Congress is expected to play a significant role in determining the IBA’s strategic direction for the coming years.
IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE highlighted the importance of the events in bringing the global boxing community together and preparing the organisation for its next phase.
“The past six years have been a period of remarkable transformation for the IBA, driven by our commitment to supporting National Federations, empowering athletes and strengthening the global boxing family,” Roberts said.
He added that the evolving sporting landscape requires the organisation to adapt, embrace new opportunities and develop a shared vision for boxing’s future.
Roberts also expressed his anticipation of welcoming delegates from around the world to Istanbul to review the organisation’s progress, exchange ideas and establish priorities for the next four years.
Both events will form part of the wider IBA Congress 2026 programme, scheduled for 3–6 December in Istanbul. The gathering will provide an important platform for international dialogue, cooperation and discussions on the future development of boxing worldwide.
