PORTIMAO, Portugal : Qatari team Iron Lynx finished third in the overall LMGT3 standings in the 2026 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) after the season’s sixth and final round at the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal.
The team’s drivers, Abdullah Al-Khelaifi and Julian Hansz, also ended the season third in the LMGT3 drivers’ standings.
Iron Lynx entered the final round in contention for the title after taking the lead in the overall standings with victory in the Goodyear 4 Hours of Silverstone, the fifth round of the championship.
However, a penalty during the season finale affected the team’s result and dropped it to third place in the final standings.
Despite missing out on the top position, Iron Lynx became the first Qatari team to achieve a podium finish in the overall standings of an international endurance championship, marking a milestone for the country’s motorsport.
The result also highlighted the efforts to strengthen Qatar’s presence in international racing, with the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation working to develop the country’s participation in global championships.
